Florida Shooting in Madden 19 Gaming Convention

Last Sunday, Madden 19 Competitor David Katz began a mass shooting at the The Madden 19 Gaming Convention and killed 2 competitors known by many on social media and Twitch. Speaking of Twitch, the event was livestreamed on Twitch, as most conventions are. And someone clipped the shooting when it happened to give to the Police Force as evidence. However, it got out somehow and everyone can watch the horrible event that happened last Sunday. This convention was a big point in a gaming community I am in, and we had to, unfortunately, hear the bad news first thing. We all had a group discussion on how this could have been avoided and a lot of hate towards the government got out. However, when we boiled down to it, we were just trying to pay respects to the people who died last Sunday. The shooter also killed himself shortly after.

This event relates to many mass shootings the US has had in its bloody past. Thankfully, there were not more people killed. It unearths a lot of the things people hate about the governments way of running things and makes many consider the laws the US didn't change and could have to prevent this. But in the end, we can't be angry that this happened. We can only learn and strive to make sure this never happens again, similar to many events in our history. That is one of the many reasons history is important, and as this becomes another series of unfortunate events in the mass shootings and fatalities we have seen in the past. Hopefully we can see some change soon.

  1. Saddly, this is one of the many shootings that have affected young people in America. We can only hope that we, as the future leaders of this nation, can solve issues like these that take the lives of thousands and leave even more with pain and loss. As you said before, we pay our respects to the families of the two deceased young men.

  2. You said a lot of hate towards the government got out but it was really trying to pay respects. You should of course pay respects but I think everyone, especially the ones affected, should be mad at the government when a shooting happens because the government continues to neglect the problem with guns we have.

  3. I, personally, like the intertwining with the government because to be honest if our government were focused on the real issues at hand and not locking kids in cages or going wall shopping or making comments about social media sights this matter might be at a close. But its not and we will sadly have to go through the same mistakes like this over and over and over again until someone finally has enough and decides to turn the tables.

  4. I love how you presented the information and I think I agree with you on some parts. The articles gives more information about the survivors of the event to be respectful to those who were injured. There is a problem with guns because the government gives people the power to take someones life and their is definitely a problem.

  5. I agree with you mainly on the part about not getting angry because of these horrific events. It's so hard for many people to stay calm about issues like these, and people take out their feelings in ways they shouldn't. By remaining calm and voicing our opinions in a non-violent way, we can help put an end to these tragedies.
