lilly anthony- Video shows 'bullying' incident days before 8-year-old took his life

Summary: Recently a video was discovered of 8 year old, Gabriel Taye, who had committed suicide this past January. The video showed that two days before his suicide at school, he had fainted in the hallway and was being bullied and mocked by other boys. Adults were able to help and revive him, but this video seems to be an engender of his suicide. Some researchers for his case believe that this could even be accused as criminal assault. This severity of bullying led to an 8 year old giving himself the ability to take his own life.

Analysis: This article is significant in that suicide in teens is very common these days, but for someone like Gabriel who’s so young it’s truly shocking. Bullying is a major cause for suicide and I think that the research done about suicide has helped make us more aware of the causes. Unfortunately this article is another example of how no family member or friend could ever really know when someone might take their life. I believe as humans we should be respectful and kind to others so that bullying and suicide can be prevented.  Racism and sexism in the 20th century is one way of how others were treated unfairly and defeated by their self-image.

  2. Wow, that's really sad and it makes me upset that there is no real solution to this. If kids choose not to speak up about being a bystander or a victim, we would never know.-JADA BROWN
