"Mentally, G.I. Had Long Path Back To Idaho" (Melissa Kurtzman, 5th Period)

Summary: This weekend, Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, the only American POW in Afghanistan, was released form captivity after five years. Military officials say that he is physically weakened and will undergo extensive physical and mental tests at a military hospital in Germany to determine the kind of treatment he will receive. Experts say that Bergdahl will most likely have trouble adjusting to normal life again and also might have trouble speaking English after being in captivity for so long. For now, Bergdahl is only allowed to communicate indirectly with his family.

Analysis: It's a miracle that Sgt. Bergdahl was able to be released from captivity after so long. While it will definitely be a long and difficult transition back into the normal world, I believe that it will all be worth it in the end when he is reunited with his family. I wish him a speedy recovery.
