Katey Guinn 5th "Whale being ripped open for science" by Katey Guinn

A 57 foot Fin Whale was found was found dead washed up Point Loma beach, California. Not many of this particular species of whale come to shore over time is an opportunity for scientists to gain knowledge to learn about this type of whale. Scientists are conducting an necropsy, which is an autopsy for animals, to see what happened to this animal. Scientists are wanting the preserve the scull of the whale so they can use it for later researches. Before the scientists dug into the whale, the Native Americans who live near by blessed the whale as in tradition. As the whale first appeared on the beach, it was towed out to the shore in hopes that it would attract sharks. But the line broke and the whale floated back up to the shore. The only options to do with the whale were to take it out into the ocean and let it sink, leave it on the beach and let it decay on its own, tow it out into the ocean, or get it off of the shore. As human natural curiosity, scientists decided to conduct research on the whale.
