Studies have shown that hurricanes with female names have had higher death rates than those with masculine names. Studies show that its because people assume a hurricane will be less destructive because its girly so more people are actually harmed as a result of not evacuating. Not only were statistics used to prove this but an experiment was conducting providing the same evidence. They asked people to rate hurricanes based on their names, the ones with female names were ranked lower than those with masculine names.
People are so ignorant because they assume that just because of a name, a hurricane will be less destructive. A name is irrelevant to the hurricane it merely just a way to classify it and making assumptions about it is unwise and can be fatal. Always be prepared for a hurricane or even better just evacuate.
