Townley Jordan - Russian Ambassador to the U.N. Dead

Summary: The Russian ambassador to the United Nations, Vitaly Churkin, died today in NYC. According to officials, he had a heart attack this morning in the Russian Mission to the U.N. He died the day before his 65th birthday, and he had been the Russian ambassador since 2006. Recently he got attention for debating with American diplomat Samantha Power, after Power tried to shame him for the massacre in Allepo, Churkin compared her to Mother Teresa. Powers was saddened by the loss, describing him as a deeply caring man in a tweet.

Analysis: It is so sad that he died at a fairly young age. He seemed to have been a well regarded ambassador to the U.N. I hope that since we are in a time of turbulence with Russia, that the next ambassador is equally diplomatic as Churkin. I hope that his family and friends are doing okay with the news of his unexpected death.
