In February 2017, some teens were playing and danceing and taking selfies on a frozen pond in central park. As they were doing this they ice gave way and the teens feel in. But while this was happening there were two men skating around near by. They saw this happen and immediately came to the rescue. The grabbed ladders and started helping pulling them out of the water. The teens were treated for hypothermia but are all okay.
This article shows the issue that we are facing more and more of people putting themselves in danger for a selfie. At the end of the article they give some statistics saying how 16 people have fallen for great heights while selfie-ing. The can synthesize the 1920's when the Ku Klux Klan was big because of all the violence against african americans. The thing is it is the opposite. Instead of the violence and leaving them for dead the men helped the teens in need.
