Kyla Thomas- Man dies after breaching security at Honolulu Airport
Summary: This article is about how a man at Honolulu International Airport who was trying to escape into a secure area and died after he was detained. This man was trying to force his way into the exit lane of a security checkpoint and tried to gain access to where ticketed passengers were waiting to catch their flight. The man was detained and was being defiant and combative. It was at this point that the unidentified man became unresponsive. This event caused no harm to passengers or anyone on the premises. Although no harm was caused, this left the passengers frightened and they became instantly scared. A woman who witnessed said, "All of a sudden this man, a very large man, ran through the terminal and started ramming himself through the doors. It was really scary during those moments, we had no idea what was going on," Richardson said. "We just had to duck down and cover ourselves because we didn't know if the suspect was going to come at us. We had to protect ourselves."
Analysis: Throughout history, scary and terrible things have occurred on planes, airports, or places with a heavy population of people. It is very difficult, nearly impossible to plan for terrorist attack, ensuring the safety of everyone. It is important that we know how to handle a situation like that should it occur. In relation to US History, this instantly reminded me of 9/11. Even though way less people were affected by this event in this article, there is still a parallel in the fact that terrorism is rash. Most people that were affected by 9/11 probably never suspect that that would be their last day alive or that there would be a purpose plane crash that they would witness, more less be involved in. I'm also sure that the people who were mentioned in this article didn't think that they would have to witness a man die due to his noncompliance with the police in the Hawaii airport. Both events show that you can not plan for the worst. You just have have to pray that God has mercy on you and your loved ones.
