Chloe Dupuy-South Carolina Killer

Summary: This writing by Amy B. Wang gives the full run down of the situation in South Carolina regarding a deeply disturbed man. Todd Kohlhepp, a successful realtor was arrested for the kidnapping of a woman who was found chained up like a dog in a metal storage container on his property along with her boyfriend who was found buried. He has confessed to killing 7 people, four of which were killed in a 2003 motorcycle shop shooting that had been left unsolved until now. Todd had a troubling childhood full of divorce, abuse, and mental illness left untreated until he was accused of kidnapping and raping a 14 year old girl. He showed signs of a troubled mind all throughout his childhood when he would abuse animals, people, and knew how to build and utilize firearms and explosives at a shockingly early age. This troubled man has a court appearance in January to determine the charges and sentencing regarding this most recent tragedy.

Analysis: This story is much deeper than you expect. It's so tragic that so many people have to be hurt due to this man's lack of access to quality mental health care. If he had been treated as a child, maybe none of this would have happened. Personally, I find these stories tragic, frustrating, but also immensely fascinating. But I don;t know how we can justify these events and not do anything to hinder the cause.
