Summary:
Last year the people of Flint, Michigan found out that their water was infected with lead and was consequently poisoning their kids. Although the crisis has changed in Flint it hasn't been in a good way, the people living here are getting attention of key leaders but at the same time a depression has fallen over the area. Many residents still cannot trust the water or what the news is saying. Most of these families rely on bottled water to do everyday things such as brushing their teeth. Others have threatened to move.
Analysis:
Although many people may believe that this crisis is behind us it indeed is not as shown in this article. It seems as though the people of Michigan need more of our help and they need us to do more than to just look at their problem with sympathy. I have known about the water crisis prior to reading the article and it is frustrating for me knowing that they are still in desperate need of water to carry out basic living habits. This article is written to inform the rest of America that while most of us are living comfortably, our Michigan neighbors are struggling and are in desperate need of any help from anyone. Their cries for help can be related to the feelings of the south before the Civil War. Similarly, the South felt as though their needs and requirements were not being payed full attention just as Flint feels when they say "nothing's changed, except the attention has died off."

Many problems like these get media publicity and then are quickly forgotten. It's truly heartbreaking, especially with the promises made by politicians and the EPA.
