Summary: Rapper, Jay Z, will headline a concert for Hillary Clinton in Cleveland before Election Day, according to a Clinton aide. The purpose of the event is to persuade many young people to vote for Hillary the way they turned out for Barack Obama in 2008 and 2012. Jay Z is not the only celebrity to support Hillary, his wife, Beyonce, attended a Clinton fundraiser in New York City in 2015. Katy Perry was filmed saying the words, “I love Hillary Clinton.”
Analysis: This article was published on CNN by Dan Merica on October 24, 2016. Celebrities promoting their opinions of the election could impact the opinions of younger children. I do not agree with the publicized opinions throughout the election, because that could enforce others to make a different vote. Going with your gut and truly thinking through your decision on who you want to be the next leader of America is very important. The article states that Jay Z had done the same thing when the election day of Obama was really close, did that change the many minds of young voters?
This is an interesting perspective; I never thought about the fact that celebrities endorsing candidates (especially in an election as fragile as this) may sway voters drastically.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your statement in your Analysis, the campaign is basically based on peoples' persuaded opinions -Jada Brown

ReplyDeleteThat's kinda funny she is using Jay-Z to have people vote for her.
ReplyDeletethis is pretty important, i think that these big time celebrities influencing the youth, causing the to side with them. The youth will side with someone famous, without considering the well being of the country.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I don't think she even needs them in this election. From what I have seen, the majority of young voters are aware of the dangers of Donald Trump. With such an outrageous candidate, I don't think she will have trouble with millennials.

DeleteI find it very interesting that candidates are using the words of young celebrities today to spark the votes of young eligible voters. I completely agree with you, and I don't believe that Hillary should invest in such influential sources because of their celebrity status and popularity on social media.
