On the last debate, Abortion became a topic in the debates between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump for the first time Wednesday night. During the debate, Trump stated "Well, I think it’s terrible," Trump said. "If you go with what Hillary is saying, in the ninth month, you can take the baby and rip the baby out of the womb of the mother just prior to the birth of the baby." Trump comments are not only ignorant but are very derogatory towards women. Hilary fires back and says,
“I’ve had the great honor of traveling across the world on behalf of our country. I’ve been to countries where governments either forced women to have abortions, like they used to do in China, or forced women to bear children, like they used to do in Romania. And I can tell you the government has no business in the decisions that women make with their families in accordance with their faith, with medical advice, and I will stand up for that right.”
Analysis: Honestly I'm Prochoice, this does not mean I'm Pro abortion I just believe the government should not have control over women bodies.I think abortion is beneficial to the planet. Pro-life supporters do not see the situations, reasons, and benefits from abortions. They are ignorant to the reason why many women choose to make the decision they do. It is clear abortion should remain legal; even if it seems immoral it can often be the best situation for the people that have to make that tough decision. According to the 14th and 9th amendment it states,
The 14th amendment limits the action of state and local officials. In addition to equal protection under the law to all citizens, the amendment also addresses what is called "due process", which prevents citizens from being illegally deprived of life, liberty, or property.
The ninth amendment states that any rights not specifically granted to the people by the constitution are not necessarily denied to them either. It was designed to protect the United States federal government from being too powerful.
You also have to think about different scenarios, approximately 14,000 women get abortions following incest or rape and it is estimated that 43% of women worldwide will have an abortion. Why would you want to make a woman have a baby that is unwanted from an rape incident? Pro-choice defends and protects the people, it is eventually the woman’s life that would be affected and no one else’s, who would the government be to take that away from "We the people?" We live in a country supposedly based on freedoms, and women should endure to have liberty over their own choices
I agree with you as well. We all have our own principles we live by and everyone should have their choice especially in cases of things as terrible as rape.
ReplyDeleteI love that you used legal evidence to back this up, and I agree that abortion should be an option. Trump's statement that the fetus would be ripped from the womb after nine months is not only grotesque but medically inaccurate; the general procedure after that amount of time is a c-section and leaves the child alive unless something goes wrong. Abortions take place that late in a pregnancy only when the pregnancy poses extreme risk of death to the mother. I've also noticed that most "pro-life" people are quick to retract their stance as soon as it applies to impoverished children, children from non-westernized countries, or queer children (if you're going to fight for life, fight for the lives of people with regular brain activity that actually need support).
