This article was written by Andreas Preuss, CNN. This article was written to inform you about what had happened. The article uses Kevin Wilson as the voice who spoke about this and his own personal thoughts and feelings. Before reading this article I had never heard about the tragic incident of Emmett Till or the vandalization of his memorial sign. The story is more devastating considering people still think this way. It makes no sense and I don't have any words to describe how I feel. With everything thats going on it feels like we haven't made much progress in moving forward. It makes me feel sad and scared for the future. I definitely agree with Kevin and what he has to say about all of this and most importantly I hope they can get the sign replaced as soon as possible and catch the people who destroyed it.

On October 19, 2016 in Mississippi the memorial sign for Emmett Till's was found with 40 bullet holes marked in it. The 14 year old black teen was killed in 1950 for allegedly whistling at a white woman. The sign marks the spot were his body was discovered. His mother decided to have an open casket to show the world her son who didn't deserve to die. Kevin Wilson who found the vandalized sign say "I was very emotional, I didn't expect to see the sign with bullet holes in it". Kevin is from Mississippi, but is a New York Film student who was finding a new location for a project when he stumbled on to the sign. "It was a well kept sight, usually filled with flowers, so it was very shocking and sad to see it with bullet holes and it spoke to the racial climate not just in the area but in the country as well," Kevin says in a interview. This hasn't been the first time the sign was vandalized. In 2008 it was vandalized but no arrest have been made. The Emmett Till Interpretive Center in Sumner, is raising money to replace the sign. His death drew attention to a corrupt legal system and an important civil rights movement.
