Hayley Cagle, Road reopens at Dakota Access Pipeline protest

Summary: The Dakota Access Pipeline is a pipeline being created in North Dakota that is supposed to carry crude oil over 1,172 miles. The opposed party's argument is that the pipeline will pollute water and damage Native American's land. Protests have been going on since late summer and have escalated since, with protestors harming police and arrests occurring.

Analysis: This is a difficult topic because it depends on the readers stance. Some people don't care as much about the earth as others, which leads to major run-in's such as this one. As for the protestors and law-enforcement, you must listen to both sides of the story to gain your belief. You can tell that in this article there is an "innocent protestor" and "bad policemen" bias. Granted, it does mention the protestors violent action as well as their fear of the police's intimidation with riot gear and a heavy presence. The pipeline itself, I believe, is something we need to look more into. It has a great potential to damage the environment and a lot of it because of all the land it covers.
