Summary

Early Sunday morning officials reported that at least 11-13 people are dead after a tour bus collided with a tractor-trailer near Palm Springs, California.  According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred on westbound Interstate 10 at 5:17 a.m. local time.  More than 30 were injured when the tour bus slammed into the big rig in North Palm Springs.  A crane was used to search the wreckage.  This crash may be among the deadliest in California in recent years.

Analysis

This was a CNN online article written by an author that I did not know.  Because this article was written so early after the incident, information was conflicting to the number for a while.  It was being initially reported as 11 dead, while another CNN news source was reporting 13.  The details of this article was not written with any opinion, but was simply written to notify the public of the incident.  It was a really sad incident that has left many families without their loved ones and even larger number now having to care for injured loved ones.  While media outlets have to report the news, I was just slightly taken aback that it was pointed out how this accident was among one of the deadliest crashes in recent years in California.  My prayers and thoughts go out to each and every family impacted by the tragic accident.
