Victoria Garza "Utah judge rescinds order that lesbian couple can't keep foster child"

A Utah judge recently called off an order he had previously made stating that a lesbian couple could not keep their foster child. The judge seemed to assume that raising a child in a heterosexual environment, with a mom and dad, would help the kid grow and mature regularly. His decision obviously brought up a lot of negative attention from the public which led to him changing his ruling on the order.

This is yet another example of the inequality present in the US. Over the course of US history we have seen the major fight against racism and slavery and for women's rights. Although we have taken tremendous steps towards equality, these problems are still present today. The most recent issue in social inequality is towards homosexual couples and gay marriage. Even with legalized gay marriage, this article is a perfect example of how they are still facing discrimination. It is completely unfair that the couple has all the requirements needed to adopt a child but simply because they're lesbian they're not allowed to. Like the woman in the article said, they did nothing to deserve this. I'm glad the judge came to his senses and called off his originally unfair order

  1. There seems to be a trend where the government is trying to micro manage people's lives. The only reason this judge could make this ruling appropriate is if the couple was some how neglecting the child of abusing the child. The judge's job is to separate their personal beliefs from their work and this is a clearly not the case

  2. I agree with Kiyanna Elliot. The judge needs to seek the difference of their personal and their work life. - Kayleigh Smerud
