After the recent Paris attacks, everyone has been on edge on how to deal with this situation. Many people believe that it's 9/11 all over again and that Muslims are the problem. Trump believes that many of the hateful crimes come from that area and that closing down mosques would lower the crime right some how.
In a way, this is similar to the 9/11 attacks. Both were attacks as a source of terrorism and the aftermath and the treatment if the Muslim community will likely have a similar a impact of discrimination against them.

I believe that there must be multiple other ways for this situation to become somewhat resolved. At least more than it is now. It is definitely considered discrimination by referring to the Muslim community as "the problem."
