This past week there was an attack in Paris that ISIS has
taken credit for. The attack killed hundreds and wounded more but that hasn’t
stopped it from impacting our politics. Due to the fact that President Obama
had released a statement that the ISIS situation was under control, then the
attacks happened, it has sparked a particular debate for the upcoming
presidential candidates. Many of the candidates have avoided discussing the
subject. They have given multiple weak arguments and statements on their stance
in the ISIS debate and now that it is right in everyone’s faces, its time for
their strategies to be revealed. Both Democrats and Republicans have responded
some with clear plans, others with simple statements expressing disgust. This
event could shape who takes control of the polls for both parties and based on
the responses could determine who wins the election.
The attacks that occurred in Paris have influenced the whole
world. Like 9/11 it influenced the responses from countries are the world, America
included. France is one of our allies and ISIS, one of our enemies, which by
means of the NATO agreement Article 5 makes the attack on France, and attack on
America. The responses that the presidential candidates are giving will
influence the next election. Unless Obama can get rid of ISIS in the next 11
months of his presidency, the job will go to the next president and that means
it’ll be a big factor in the elections. This article seemed to favor the GOP
candidates, rarely mentioning Sanders or Clinton and when they did it was to
bash on their views. It’s going to be very interesting to see the plans that
our possible new leaders come up with.
it is absolutely important that EVERY candidate specifies how they plan on dealing with ISIS now and in the future. Everybody needs to stop pushing this subject aside and pretending like it's not important. It's time to deal with the facts! Madeline Jones 4th period
