CIA Chief Warns Islamic State May Have other Attacks Ready by Caroline North 9th period

CIA Director John Brennan warns the public that the recent ISIS terrorist attacks in Paris might not be stand alone events, and there's a large possibility that future attacks will follow.  " 'The Islamic State, which threatened in a new video on Monday to attack in Washington, appears to have formed an external operations branch that may have readied follow-up strikes to the Paris attacks,' he said.  While the U.S. is still unable to confirm that ISIS was the source of the Paris attacks, they also believe the terrorist group was responsible for the bombing of a Russian airliner flying over Egypt which killed all 224 passengers.  European security systems are especially vulnerable and overrun at this time as many Europeans previously working jobs in the Middle East rush to return home in this dangerous time.

Our world is transitioning into a new era where conflict in the Middle East continues to arise.  The hostilities of ISIS and persistent interference of nations foreshadows our nation and the rest of the world heading down a dark road, with the possibility of a catastrophic war involving a plethora of countries, that we've already travelled twice before.  While it is terrifying that ISIS, a malicious terrorist organization, is growing stronger, because of their malign and cruel actions against others.   However, it is more terrifying that the hostilities ISIS causes is egging our planet to possibly fall into another detrimental world war.  Both WWI and WWII were horrific occurrences, but what is frightening about our world entering another large war is our access to more escalated and more dangerous weapons.  Our advancements in science and technology have only augmented the possible destruction humans can cause to one another.  The world has furthered itself into an age where several nations possess enough nuclear weapons to completely obliterate our planet.  Because ISIS has the ability to create terror on such a large scale, it not only frightens a global population, but it holds the ability to force many nations into yet another baneful war.
