Cassidy Jones Reports "Selfies for Sale"

On November 13, Snapchat began fining users to use exclusive filters, 99 cents each. The filters are an easy and fun to way to customize selfies with or without using basic "materials". when they were first introduced to users, filters would come and go, changing every day, removing beloved filters. Snap chat brought these missed filters with a price tag.
Currently on social media, companies and businesses over use the accessibility of advertising. On Snapchat, they have advertisements playing through "stories" that users over the world can view. The excessive "need" of Snapchat adding the filters for purchase shows that rather than them wanting us to truly enjoy the app, they only want our money. Just how the British government wanted American's money through excessive taxation, like the sugar and stamp acts. Rather than the British government wanting Americans to establish their self-government or anything else relatively important, they only want the cabbage.

  1. Why is snapchat just now randomly deciding they want to charge people?

Great connection to the British though.

  3. why cant social media just leave our simple filters alone. they were a source of joy to my snapchats and it bothers me that they're taxing us to put nice filters on our snap chats. i hope they fix this because i want my filters back.

  4. I think it's silly that they are charging people for filters. Honestly it makes me want to stop using snapchat if they are going to start charging for filters. -Mattie Whisler 9th period Flex
