Blue White and Red Around the World // Uriel Cruz. Period 6

This past Friday, tragedies occurred all over the world. One of those tragedies was the terrorist attacks in Paris, France. 129 lives claimed that day due to a suicide bombing that ISIS claims to be responsible for. The world of social media quickly took action and spread the news to everyone in a matter of hours. The Pray For Paris hashtag has been on the top of trends on Twitter and Instagram, Snapchat added a filter to raise awareness and commemorate the fallen Parisians, even the YouTube logo was changed to have the red box resemble the French flag. Buildings from all around the world, including 3 in downtown Dallas, shine blue white and red lights to pay respects to the French. At noon on Monday, the Governor even asked us to give a moment of silence to Paris.

This support reminds me of when America seemed to have lost it all and there was no way it'd recover. The British were overpowered and America just couldn't keep up. France came in to help the rebellious colonists win their independence. France saw America's potential and perseverance and helped it defeat the British. Now, France is in trouble and seems to have reached rock bottom. The rest of the world didn't ignore France's weeping though, the world helped France get back on its feet. The world gave France a Band-Aid after scraping its knee. France will not let this put its growth on hiatus. They've just gone through the worst attack since World war II and aren't going out with a fight. They will be ruthless and fight back until the evildoers get what they deserve. ISIS is just full of cowards who have too much time on their hands. They kill innocent people, vandalize sacred property, for what? Allah? If a god were truly as great as they think Allah is, Allah wouldn't want innocent people to die. It doesn't make any sense, these acts of terrorism aren't going to give anyone an advantage, there aren't any pros to these attacks. There is no justification for this.

Pray for France

  2. I'm glad everyone can support each other in such a tragedy of only this Union was always present rather than only when times are dark. (Alejandra Hernandez 6th period)

I liked your band aid reference. I agree with Olivia, it's wonderful when countries that once disagreed on things come together in times of healing and grief.
