"Muslim News", Emir Price, 9th

Sorry, I technically don't have a news article this week.

Given the recent events, I wanted to look for some good news in the Islamic community. So being simple-minded as I am, I just googled "muslim news".

The very first result was this:

Obama Says Strategy To Fight ISIS Will Succeed

Pretty horrible and discouraging, right? You want to look up some news in your faith's community and the very first thing you see is an article about the horrible militant group that claims the same religion as you despite being despised by almost the entirety of the 23% of the world that is Muslim. I could have seen an article about delicious halal burgers at a popular restaurant chain, or maybe a goofy Buzzfeed article about whether weed is haram. I don't care. Just something light.

But I get an article about ISIS. I'm willing to bet most people know more about ISIS than Ramadan. I bet a lot of y'all gotta google Ramadan to know what the heck that is.

Please, I just ask that you don't associate ISIS with Islam. Please. Don't even call them ISIS. It gives them legitimacy as an "Islamic State". Muslims call them "Daesh". It means "to trample down and crush" and it's an acronym for the Islamic State in arabic. Daesh hates it, so use it a lot, please. Please, please, just don't give them legitimacy. Muslims hate them, and you can't ever believe otherwise. Keep this in mind:

Daesh kills more Muslims than it does Christians. Any other faith for that matter.

Thanks for reading.
