Taytum Buford(Period 6)- Gables Park 17 Shooting

Summary:
*I live in Gables Park 17*
On September 2, 2015, 1700 Cedar Springs Rd., in between P1 and P2, a woman was shot and killed by a masked murderer. The police ID'd the woman the following day as Kendra Hatcher, a 35 year-old dentist. The murder has not been identified as the only person of interest found in this investigation is a woman, 23-year-old Crystal Cortes, known to have been paid to drive the murderer inside the parking garage. Cortes says she was paid $500 to drive a Jeep Cherokee and is now being held in custody with a $250,000 bond. No new information has been further released about the investigation and the masked murder who put a bullet in Hatcher.

Analysis:
I found another shooting that happened 24 years ago in Collin County, Texas. A man, John Alba, shot his wife and another resident in an apartment complex. As he was already arrested for molesting 12 year-old, Brandi Taylor, who was staying the night with his niece at his house. The day he was arrested for the incident with Taylor, he said to his wife,Wendy, "Wendy, you better come get me out of jail or I'll kill you." The day he was released from jail, he smuggled his way in to the apartment of Wendy's friend, Gail Webb and repeatedly shot Wendy until death. Webb skimmed past death as the bullet barely missed a main artery.
Obviously, people are sick and do things, like kill people, for unknown reasons. But what I think is worse, is that both apartment complexes need to work on their security. The Gables Park 17 has an insanely high-level security system, as I would know because I live there. However, someone was able to smuggle their way in and shoot somebody, just as Alba did to his wife Wendy. It is obvious that security in housing has got to become a higher priority on the government's list as many people continue to be killed.

  1. I wrote my blog on this too! I had no idea that a shooting so similar to this had happened before. I like that you compared and contrasted the two. I agree with you, These apartment buildings need to increase security so they can prevent these horrible incidents from happening again!
