Eva Semrad- Pope Toast and Beer!

This month, Philadelphia has a special guest coming to town. Pope Francis will be visiting to make the next World Meeting of Families. Many Americans are thrilled to hear he is coming to the USA. Some of Philadelphia's people are so excited, they have begun to make merchandise celebrating his coming to the United States. Dolls, toasters, and even beer. People are questioning the morality of this new market of Pope-themed goods.

Throughout history, for as along as the modern human has been around, we have had some form of religion. In many cultures, It was in poor form and a sin to depict life, much less God. Many years ago, the colonies were created as a sort of religious outlet, free of persecution. Then, and especially during the Great Awakening, the profit of themed religious merchandise would be frowned upon, unsupported, and likely sinful.

  1. Strange... Well if it makes money! Since America never had and never will have any royalty, our elite are the celebrities so its interesting how they treat the pope as a regular celebrity rather than a figure.
