A Chinese military jet performed an "unsafe" maneuver in front of a U.S. reconnaissance plane last week, according to the Pentagon. The Chinese jet came extremely close to a U.S. RC-135 while it was operating approximately 80 miles east of the Shandong Peninsula. Although this occurrence was not close to causing an accident, the United States is taking precaution towards the incident. Similar incidents have happened in the past, but they have never really been a major issue. However, Chinese President Xi Jinping in is in the United States and will meet with Barack Obama this Friday to peacefully discuss the issue.
This event is significant to U.S History because it reminds of American warfare. Both China and the United States shared a common enemy during WWI/ WWII, which was Germany. Both countries played a major role in defeating the Nazi Germans, so the two countries have good allies for a good while now. Hopefully this event was just a coincidence and their alliance isn't broken.

I can agree with why they would be taking pracautions, because its almost like the Chinese airplane was toying with us.
ReplyDeletePrecautions are necessary but I think we should take away from this situation to keep our own flyers in control so as they do not cause any risks and teach them how to be safe and deal with these situations
ReplyDeleteI understand the concern about the plane, especially since this happened significantly close to 9/11, but I'm glad no harm was caused. Shouldn't be a big issue but definitely something to keep an eye on.
