This past Sunday thousands of Brazilians took the streets in protest. Many of the nations people seem
to be upset with the current president in office, Dilma Rousseff. It is the second time in the last month
that an organized protest around this size has occurred. In the last year Brazil has had a number of large protests, especially around the time of the World Cup. Many protests are organized through social media and spread through the large nation. Most all protests have one goal in mind: impeach Rousseff. The nation's people are upset because scandals, inflation, unemployment, and other problems have surrounded her presidency; they are also upset with the nations hospitals and public schools. One scandal involves Petrobras, a government oil company, that allegedly has accepted bribes from companies.
The political corruption surrounding Rousseff's presidency is similar to the Teapot Dome Scandal of the Warren Harding administration. In Teapot Dome federal oil reserves were sold giving exclusive rights to oil companies while the administration profited. Scandal has a way to define a presidency, like that in Brazil, Harding, and Nixon in Watergate, and even Bill Clinton.
