PARENTS REFUSE TO SUPPORT STATE STANDARDIZED TEST
CURRENT EVENT BY LAURA WALTONOriginally Written by CNN Reporter, Kelly Wallace
The story is told from the perspective
of a parent who, after starting her child in kindergarten reads up on the state
test controversy before her child is supposed to take it. After researching she
hears about a forming boycott against the state test from parents. Upon first
registering the rumor, she doesn't believe it will actually take place or make
a difference. Following the exam that year, the parent discovers that only 2
students of a certain class took it. This relates to AP US History as this is
the first decade where teachers are actually teaching the curriculum in order
for students to achieve a certain score. I came from private school and it isn't until now that I actually appreciate minimal state involvement in my education.
