A man in Baltimore over a week ago was arrested, however, when he emerged from the Police van, he had massive injury to his spinal cord, leading to his death exactly a week later. Though the Police are investigating the incident, many are very angry over it, including the mayor. Baltimore has a history of similar incidents, and details are slowly but surely being revealed. The six officers responsible for the arrest have been suspended. The reason for the arrest -- the unlawful possession of a switchblade -- have been confirmed. Videos have identified the possible point at which the injury could have occurred: while the victim was on the ground. However much is still not known, like an unaccounted-for 30 minutes. The family has declined a comment.
This incident is very similar to both the Micheal Brown Shooting and the "I Can't Breath" incident, in which excessive force used by the Police has come under scrutiny. An APUSH example of this would be the excessive force used by Police Chief Bull Turner in Alabama in order to stop the protests there. The Police Force then used fire hoses, dogs, and clubs to stop protesters, however all it did was rile up the rest of the United States, similar to these three incidents.
