Recently, a couple physicians have been diagnosed with possibly terminal cancer. Due to their close relationship with dying(as they have seen many patients go through the process), they have created their own conclusions as to whether or not people should have the right to die earlier than the illness may kill them.
The right-to-die movement has gained renewed momentum in California and around the nation following the publicized death of an East Bay woman with brain cancer. Brittany Maynard moved to Oregon to take advantage of its "Death with Dignity" law and died in November after taking a fatal dose of barbiturates prescribed by her doctor. This is reminiscent of the pro choice movement, as both movements deal with the right of a citizen with the autonomy of their body.
