Sheriff refuses to uphold law - Veronica Nichols 2nd period

In Oregon the Josephine County sheriff is refusing to uphold a law that extends background checks to private sales. He says that despite the fact that this is a law that is supposed to extend throughout the state that it does not reflect the "character" of his town and they don't have the manpower to actually execute the law and refuses to go after people who commit a misdemeanor.
This new law sort of has to do with the 2nd amendment right to bear arms and although this sort of restricts that it also seems like it would be a good law. It is very easy for people to obtain firearms in this country and I think it would be a good idea if it was limited.
