There is many young Americans who get involved with this terrorist groups because they feel like they need something in life. They are people around there 20-30 years old who are regular people. Some of them are arrested in airports when they got to america. Some of them are as young as 17 years old and already involved in this.
This is relating to the red scare during the cold war. There were people who acted as spies to the soviet union. They were Americans who believed in them and wanted to the harm to America. Back then it was communism and now it is terrorism. These are big deals going on in or history.

Its scary knowing that some poeple in America ally with ISIS because now we have to be extra cautious and you never know who plans on harming our country!

ReplyDeleteIt is terrifying to know that some of our enemies lay within American borders, and I can't even imagine why ISIS would appeal to teens, considering its many absurd and very violent activities.
ReplyDeleteI'm not surprised at this seeing that the huge media coverage of this topic and wide availability/dispersion of ISIS has spurred many of the youth in other countries to join.. People everywhere are desperate for some kind of cause to be a part of; some kind of 'family unit' or group to feel connected with, allowing ISIS to gain many followers, especially of the younger generation.

Even though there have been Americans who proved to be involved in ISIS, I hope the government will still take our privacy seriously. After 9-11, our privacy was brutally invaded. We should get the benefit of the doubt in situations like these. Not everyone is a spy.
ReplyDeleteIn the U.S. we rarely 'feel' the potential danger, but with ISIS recruiting people from our on cities and communities it feels like a direct link. Like, they could be around us at any time.
ReplyDeleteVery similar to the red scare after both world wars. The nation was afraid of people coming from Russia or other communist nations because they were associated with the enemy.
