Sisters survive two weeks stranded in the woods - Jack VanGorden 4th per.

After being stranded for almost two weeks, Leslie Roy and Lee Wright are finally returning to Kalamazoo after being rescued off of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The sisters, 52 and 56, began their fight for survival when their truck got stuck in the snow on a remote path along Lake Superior. They had to make do with what they had so ate only Girl Scout cookies and cheese puffs. Their only source of water was the snow. Thanks to a glimmer off of their Ford Explorer's windshield, the Michigan State Police were able to spot them in their helicopter. As soon as the girls saw the helicopter, they got out of the car and started waving and building a signal fire. According to police, they were found with "multiple layers of clothes and were rationing their food." After their battery died, they huddled in the car and only heard some rustling noises every now and then.

It seems like they did everything right by rationing their food and doing everything they could to stay warm. I think it was also very smart that they stayed with the car instead of wandering off. I'm glad that they were found with no serious injuries.

  1. Wow, it really is great to hear that they were found uninjured, and it was indeed very smart of them to stay in the car.
