'Goopy, mushy' creatures invade Pacific Northwest beaches By Andreas Preuss - Miles Sullivan
Millions of jellyfish are washing up on the beaches in Washington & Oregon after seasonal winds catch the jellyfish by surprise. Normally these jellyfish, Who have rudder-esque fins that help them steer away from the shore, can use the wind to avoid such a situation. The winds this time of year say otherwise, spinning the "rudders" over and over causing the jelly fish to lose control and beach. I cant imagine going to the beach and its covered in slimy creatures... At least we don't have global warming to blame for this one, but merely one of earth's weird going ons.

These are not jellyfish. They are a relative called a Hydrozoan. They are specifically Velella velella.
