Indiana's Religious Freedom Law - Olivia Lambert Period 3

On March 29th, CNN posted a news story in which Indiana Governor Mike Pence signed a religious bill into law. Many people are willing to boycott the state because they are so opposed to this new law. Pence settled down and told the Indianapolis Star that it was not based on discrimination. Pence also said he would propose a new bill to maybe settle down all of the controversy. The new law asserts that people and religions can't be put down or called a burden upon the government.

This story from Indianapolis just states how opposing people can get when it comes to religion or any law that is against what they believe in. Religion is a very touching subject among some people and I think people of the state aren't ready for anything to change. They could also not have complete trust and faith that their governor is leading them in the right direction also but I think it is mainly that the citizens aren't ready for change. Any laws discriminating or changing regulations in laws dates all the way back to the beginning of the Constitution where it says freedom of religion and I think this new law from Indiana is just supporting that to make sure the government doesn't interfere with it either.

  1. This is rather interesting and I agree that people are not always ready for change, also nice job relating your topic to history.
