The Justice Department officially ended
their investigation into Ferguson Police officer Darren Wilson,
deciding not to press criminal charges for the killing of Michael
Brown. The prosecutors were quoted as saying that “Wilson’s
actions do not constitute prosecutable violations” of federal
civil rights law, thus he would be let free without repercussion. The
justice department claims this comes from the fact that they do not
have evidence upon which they can disprove Wilson’s stated
subjective belief that he feared for his safety.
This reflects back to the many times
in US history where the government has protected cops instead of the
people. Like the civil rights acts of the 60's and the 70's the
police interfered with
peaceful protests and hurt innocents
in a racist method.
