On
Monday the police declared that they were unable
to find any substantive basis to help support a Rolling Stone
magazine article that depicted a horrific gang rape at a University
of Virginia fraternity house. However, the police also declared that
a four-month review had identified serious discrepancies in the
account of a woman, Jackie, who refused to cooperate with their
investigation. After going through evidence the police were unable to
say if a party was held that night that led to a rape or not, there
was no evidence point towards the party though.
Throughout
history women have been treated as less then men, this “all
changed” during the civil rights movement, but now we see today
that nothing has changed. Evidence of a rape must be presented to
get repercussions for the rapist. But is there ever any more evidence
then the women's word, and that always goes against the mans and who
is to be believed in today's society and in history.
