Today, April 21, 2019, The Eiffel Tower went dark at midnight to remember and honor the over 200 victims of the Easter bombings in Sri Lanka. The Tower has gone dark in the past to honor the victims of Ariana Grande's Manchester concert and the terrorist attacks at six locations in Paris. This article was published by CNN and written by Theresa Waldrop.
The attacks bring an extremely sobering mood to the holiday that is doubled by the number of people killed. Honoring the victims of the attacks is something that the entire world should be, at the very least, doing, and the Eiffel Tower is setting a good example. I hope that the world will start waking up to the very real issues we are facing and try to implement changes. This relates to the Tree of Life shooting in Pennsylvania as well as the mosques shootings in New Zealand; all occurred at, (least partly) places of worship.
This is really sad and I just hate that it had to happen on such a sacred day for many people.
