UN Official Inquires About Human Rights Violations in China

During a visit by a United Nations delegation to China about the Belt and Road initiative, Secretary-General Antonio Guterres approached President Xi Jinping and raised the issue of the quarantined Uighur population in China's Xinjiang province. The Uighur people in the Xinjiang province of western China have been pushed into "reeducation camps", with those imprisoned numbering upwards of one million people. However, China claims that these people are "murderous devils" adhering to the "absurd preachings" from Islamic extremists.
This article was written by Reuters, who have consistently covered the human rights violations ongoing in Xinjiang. I believe this event to be an absolute outrage, especially for, in a province with twenty million people, for 5% of that to be imprisoned for mere suspicion of participation in terrorist activities. These absolute bogus lockups remind me of the imprisonment of thousands of children and families at the border, due in no small part to accusations of those immigrants being rapists and murderers, much like the harmful accusations made against the Uighur people being terrorists.
