On Easter Sunday, a group of unnamed extremists bombed churches in Sri Lanka, killing almost 300 people in one of the most deadly terrorist attacks the world has seen since 9/11. The attacks included eight bombings at churches and hotels. Sri Lanka has seen plenty of terrorism in the past as a result of the civil war between the separatist Tamil Tigers and the Sri Lankan government, however, the fact that this war ended over a decade ago is puzzling officials. It is known that the attacks were carried out by a religious extremist group, but none have claimed responsibility thus far.
This article was written yesterday evening, so the information is new and there may be more updates to come. This relates to the 9/11 attacks when terrorists attacked New York City's World Trade Center. Nearly 3,000 people were killed in that horrible event. This news makes me really sad, especially because it happened in a church, which is supposed to be a safe place for most people.
