In California, two were found dead in a Newport Beach condo on Sunday. Police believe this to be a double homicide. A man returned to his condo only to find his roommate and a woman ,he claimed to not recognize, dead. One of the victims, Wendy Miller, had been missing since Friday night. She had given the other victim, Darren Partch, a ride home after leaving a bar where she was last seen. One of the Newport Beach residents said that Miller and Partch were hitting it off. A friends of Miller’s said she received a text from her Saturday morning saying they made it home safely. Millers son wrote a very depressing post about the tragedy of his mother’s death saying she had been shot and will always be loved. A friend of Partch’s said he was a very kind like able guy.

This is a very interesting and mysterious homicide considering Miller texted the next morning saying she was safe and both victims are claimed to have been very kind people. Homicides like this happen all of the time while we don’t hear about it. I believe we are hearing about this one because it occurred in an upscale Californian condo.

  1. I found this particularly sad, knowing that, like you mentioned, there are many cases of this that are not mentioned because they don't occur in higher-class areas. There are so many families that are affected by homicides withing their neighborhoods, and just because they live in lesser-known or poorer parts of town, they are not recognized as well by authorities and awareness is not brought towards them.

  2. Im quite confused by the wording in this. Did they kill themselves or did someone else kill them?

  3. The violence in the world today is very sad and I feel for the families of the victims. It is very sad that people are less shocked by these tragedies because they seem to occur so often.
