This article was written by someone who seems to oppose conversion therapy, because the stories that are included are people who also oppose it. In addition, it lists all the negative effects of it. With this being said, it is still factual, not opinionated. This article was written on April 26, 2019. Many people forget that there is still a lot of homophobia present today, and it's extremely harmful to the LGBTQ+ community, especially young kids. This article was written to decrease that ignorance and expose the negative practices that are going on today. Unfortunately, much of history that is related to the community is erased. For example, we learned about the Red Scare, but our textbook never mentioned the Lavender Scare- the persecution against gay people in the 1950s, where many were fired from their jobs by the government. Since people refuse to tell us about these things that have happened, it's our job to find out the truth and not remain ignorant.

Emma Burkey: Textbooks ignoring important history, such as the Lavender Scare, is appalling in itself. I hope that all conversion therapy is banned from the U.S. because no one should be put through physical of psychological pain just because they are being themselves.
