After the church bombings in Sri Lanka, San Diego police were quick to tackle a woman with a baby and a shot gun threatening to shoot a church on Easter Sunday. Police arrived and took the woman into custody. She was in her late 20s or early 30s and walked onto the stage with her child and a hand gun, and claimed she was going to blow up the church. Church goers were able to take the baby and gun from her hands before tackling her to the ground. A bomb sniffing dog found no evidence in her car. Her children were found healthy and unhurt, but were both taken into protective custody. The police said they were not expecting to have danger in San Diego, but they began to put more police on duty near churches.
I have no previous information about this event, and I was shocked to read about the Sri Lankan bombings that killed over 200 people. I can only imagine how frightening it must've been to experience such a serious threat on an Easter Sunday. This is very important because it is yet another example of how explosives and guns are a threat to citizens. I am very sorry to all those in Sri Lanka who are mourning. I can relate this to the Columbine school shooting, since the 20th anniversary just recently passed. The school shooting was a terrible fright to the children and families near the school, and while many died in the Columbine attack, luckily no one was harmed by the lady at San Diego.
