Troops Pulled from California-Mexico Border -Cleo Chaney

The majority of the 360 troops at the border in California were withdrawn by governor Newsom. He was quoted to have said that “the border ‘emergency’ is a manufactured crisis, and California will not be part of this political theater.” Many of these troops are going on to fight against drug cartels, and about 100 will go to aid California in wildfire suppression, which I think is a great choice.

The Spanish-American war is an example from history of a manufactured crisis. Yellow journalism motivated people to want to go to war unecessarily. Hopefully, even with our current administration, we can avoid unnecessary conflict because immigrants—documented and undocumented— and refugees are not a threat.
