An article written by Dominique Mosbergen on the eleventh of February. The article touches up on the terrifying topic of insect instinction. According to the author’s research, more than 40 percent of insect species are dwindling globally and a third of species are endangered.
Researchers describe a flowerless world with silent forests, a world of dung and old leaves and rotting carcasses accumulating in cities and roadsides, a world of ‘collapse or decay and erosion and loss that would spread through ecosystems.’”
They death of these insects can be attributed to our intensive agriculture. The heavy use of pesticides, climate change and invasive species were also pinpointed as significant causes.
The repercussions of our past actions are catching up to us and unless we made a strong and fast change, we will end up in a collapsed world.
It is horrifying to see such alarming repercussions to man made issues approaching in a possibly near future. Remember that you can do anything from turning of the light switch to reusing a paper bag to be this exact change which you speak of!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's so scary to wonder if maybe we're too late, like we're past the point of reversing all of our mistakes. Despite that, we still need to make an effort as a society to try. Together, we have to start forming good habits that will benefit our environment and our future.
