This article discusses all of the possibilities and stories behind the Academy Awards. It was written before the show and updated with new facts as the award show has been televised. The CNN author brings up the historical breakthroughs that have occurred, such as Roma being the first film from Mexico to win in the Foreign Language Film category.
The Oscars have had their fair share of drama this year, beginning with Kevin Hart stepping down from being the host after his homophobic comments. Then, after finding no other, they have continued tonight with no host. I think not having a host could actually help the Oscars achieve their goal of cutting the show to three hours long. They have already made it clear tonight that they will be cutting off people's acceptance speeches, again, furthering their goal of shortening the show. Other winners that made history were Regina King for Best Supporting Actress and Black Panther for costume design and production design. This Oscars relates to the 1989 award show, which was the last one that didn't have a host. That Academy Awards apparently had one of the worst opening performances ever, but the 2019 awards can definitely say it had one of the best.
