Mekinna Knight- Measles Outbreak?

I was watching a video on youtube the other day of doctors and researchers as well as parents discussing wether or not it was necessary and/or safe to vaccinate their children. While the doctors gave significant medical support over supporting why it was very important to vaccinate your children, the parents stated that they have seen rare, but detrimental effects of receiving certain vaccines. This is connected to the recent out break of measles in Washington county due to intentionally not choosing to vaccinate children, and health officials have declared it a public health emergency. With this disease being eliminated almost two decades ago, these health officials are scrambling to contain the disease. It has infected nearly 53 people, mostly children. More than 40% of Kindergarteners were recorded as not to received the recommended vaccinations as stated are needed before the age of 5. In a small contained area of not vaccinated people, 1 infected person is like lighting a match on oil. People don't realize how sick this disease can make you, and people around you, and if people do not become aware we could end up with another black plague.

This can be related to the account of measles elimination in 1978 of the CDC setting a goal to eliminate the measles in the United States by 1982. Although this goal was not met, the action of widespread measles vaccination was drastically used, and disease was reduced.

  1. I find this kind of disturbing and questioning. Measles, practically vanished, and now its back all of a sudden, like nothing happened. Its affect on kids is also horrible, and it worries me that if the CDC cannot control and contain this outbreak, we might have a serious nationwide pandemic to be worried about. - Joziah German
