As it turns out wind may be partly responsible for the melting of the glaciers. It is not just the rising ocean temperature (but those are a big big factor), but also the fact that its the wind fronts that have been pushing currents inland and allowing the warmer waters to melt away at ice shelves. The ice shelves then collapse or waste away completely, dumping huge glaciers into the slowly warming sea. Several different studies show that because of these winds, and the accompanying ocean water the will soon be melted.
This is important because if the glaciers continue to melt at this rate many islands, and large amounts of lad will be completely inhabitable . The world has only so much land and at this rate future generations wont get to enjoy a good portion of it. The way i see it we either need to go and find a completely new planet to live on, or suck it up and fix the one we have. Switching to clean energy such as solar or wind isn't gonna completely fix the problem but it a good place to start.
