In the past few years in the African-Americans been told by the police has been brought to high awareness in the country. But there is another ethnic group who’s stories are not heard about. Native Americans are killed during police encounters at a higher rate than any other ethnic group. It’s very sad That these incidences of native Americans being killed by police are basically invisible to the rest of America. From these incidentes Vera mortality rate is 12% higher than African-Americans and three times as high as whites. The vast majority of these deaths are from police shootings.

It’s very sad how these deaths haven’t been brought up as the spotlight in the media. And also I really wonder why they haven’t, things like this need to change in America.
It seems to me that some detail was left out. Maybe perhaps there was a reason why they were shot and killed in the first place? Maybe some crime was being committed and in such a way was endangering the police officers life or others?
ReplyDeleteI don't understand why these issues aren't discussed in the media as you said. Indigenous peoples suffer greatly from police brutality as any other minority does, and have some of the lowest ranks of education and highest rates of alcoholism and drug abuse, due to the government's implementation of institutions that force them lower on the social hierarchy.
ReplyDeleteI agree that the media doesn't speak out against other issues. It's as if they are writing articles that will get picked up in the media. I still don't blame news organizations for doing this, because they are a corporation and they have to pay their work force and please their sponsors.
