Trump Administration to end protected status for Haiti

http://www.cnn.com/2017/11/20/politics/dhs-temporary-protected-status-haiti/index.html

Since the 2010 quake, Haitians have been shielded from deportation under the Temporary Protected Status. Now, under Trump's commands, they must be out of America by July 2019. After the earthquake, many of the people of Haiti were left without homes, and fled to America, with no idea when they would be able to come back. Now, without knowing if there is a safe place to go, Haitians will be surprised by what they find when they are forced out of their homes in 2019. Republican Congresswomen Ileana Ros-Lehtinen tweeted, "I traveled back to #Haiti after the earthquake in 2010 and after hurricane Matthew in 2016. So I can personally attest that #Haiti is not prepared to take back nearly 60,000 #TPS recipients under these difficult and harsh decisions." It is a bad idea to put these people back in their damaged country, and we should provide them with adequate care in the Land of the Free.

These people have come to America, legally, with the intention of living a safe life, free from the terror of their homeland. However, now they must fear the fact that they may go back home and there not be anything for them to survive on. Deportation is a common theme in America these days, but it even dates back to 1798 with the Alien Act, deeming the president power to remove any immigrant was seen as a danger. These Haitians aren't the danger, they are in danger.
