At a Navajo veterans' event, Trump makes 'Pocahontas' crack
http://www.cnn.com/2017/11/27/politics/trump-pocahontas-navajo-code-talkers/index.html
Synopsis:
Trump had an event in the white house to honer Navajo code talkers today, in doing so he calls Elizabeth Warren 'Pocahontas', though he doesn't mention her by name it is a nickname Trump has used on her before. Trump passive aggressively says ""I just want to thank you because you are very, very special people. You were here long before any of us were here,-Although, we have a representative in Congress who has been here a long time ... longer than you -- they call her Pocahontas! But you know what, I like you. You are special people" His 'joke' is met with silence. Warren's response was "It is deeply unfortunate that the President of the United States cannot even make it through a ceremony honoring these heroes without having to throw out a racial slur. Donald Trump does this over and over thinking somehow he is going to shut me up with it. It hasn't worked out in the past, it isn't going to work out in the future." The article continues on by informing it's readers on who Pocahontas was, other jabs Trump has done to Warren, as well as reminding it's readers of Trump's painting of Andrew Jackson in the oval office.
Analysis:
This article was written by Dan Merica who's main job in CNN is to cover political news, so he happens to circle around Trump, therefore, this article does not seem bias and just states the facts, it just happens to make Trump look stupid, probably because he is and it would be to much of an effort to make him seem somewhat intelligent. This is similar to many events in American history, whether it has to do about racism towards Native Americans (mainly the Jacksonian period) or in general racism between blacks and whites because of the ignorance people had about black people's cultural background. In fact that still stands today in America, even with other black folks on twitter and stuff. I read one by a black dude that said something like, "See this is what I'm talking about. Us black people need to go back to Africa so we can be FREE!" Something like that at least, except i remember just all the words spelled disasterly bad and the tweet it's self just made you think -did i read that right. The main reason it reminded me of that tweet is because it's just like really what the heck Trump really? You can't give someone a compliment without bashing someone.
Trump thinks, just because he is President, he can say (or tweet) whatever he wants, and this is not the case. His rhetoric makes the US look bad and just gives the rest of the world an excuse to be pissed off at us.
